EuroComics will continue to be Jean-Pierre Gibrat’s American publisher!

Jean-Pierre Gibrat’s Flight of the Raven has added a  2018 Harvey Award Nomination for Best European Book to its two Eisner Award nods (and Agouléme Festival award for Best Artist!). We at EuroComics love Jean-Pierre’s graphic novels. In addition to releasing the prequel The Reprieve, we have signed a deal to present his current series—Mattéo. The first book in this multi-volume series will be released in December.

Interview with Rubén Pellejero

The Comics Journal has just released an exclusive interview by Alex Deuben with Dieter Lumpen and Silence of Malka artist Rubén Pellejero. Working through a translator (Katie LaBarbera, who translated the Alack Sinner stories), the result is a very informative and interesting interview about Rubén’s start in the cartooning world, his use of color, his partnership with collaborator Jorge Zentner, and introducing Corto Maltese to a new generation.

Hugo Pratt and Milton Caniff

A year-long exhibit of Hugo Pratt’s art is currently on display at the Musée des Confluences, in Lyon, France. Curated by Patrizia Zanotti and Cong SA, in cooperation with the national libraries of France, the exhibit – and catalogue – features a brief piece by Dean Mullaney discussing Milton Caniff’s influence on Pratt.

For our English-speaking readers, here’s the English text alongside the illustrated French version. (Corto Maltese and all Hugo Pratt art © 2018 Cong SA.) Fans of both artists’ work will appreciate the mature Pratt’s homages to Caniff, known as the Rembrandt of the Comic Strip.
