Discover Something New!

I’m often asked why we decided to start the EuroComics imprint—considering how busy we are producing all the Library of American Comics titles. The answer is pretty simple:

Great comics are great comics, regardless of when or where they were created. The Library of American Comics, in reprinting classic newspaper strips of the past, takes care of the “when;” EuroComics takes care of the “where.”

One of the most exciting aspects about editing and publishing comics is discovering something new. Sometimes it’s a young comics creator coming into his or her own—as when in 1984 I published Zot!, a series from an unknown cartoonist named Scott McCloud. Sometimes it’s being able to finally read the work of a master artist such as Claire Wendling, whose masterpiece Lights of the Amalou, written by Christophe Gibelin, has been unavailable to those of us who can only read English.

Whether they’re new or old, originally written in English or another language, great comics are great comics. I’m as excited as anyone at the opportunity to read them…and think you will be too.

We’re creating previews in English for most books in our catalogue, so please browse through the listings and take a look.
